The Mineshaft Tavern probably. I am from the Northeast up near Boston so it's been quite the adjustment but I do love it here. yeah ABQ has gotten pretty bad. Not many "safe areas" any more.
I picked a good amp with a cheap guitar. It is so much easier to make a cheap guitar a real player with minimal tech abilities than to try and mod a cheap amp into something much better.
I live in a tiny town in the East Mountains (6500 ft) of New Mexico. My nearest neighbor is about a half mile away and I am surrounded by Ranch land. I can jam with my band at 2am if I want to out on the porch. I love being in the high desert.
I am jealous of where you live. I used to live in St Pete and I aim to get back that way some day. Here in NM they are just about loading us into trains if you get my drift.
Thing is before the latest update on my Helix it was the same for me. The latest one pushed it over the top. I dont know exactly what they did but I was on the beta testing team and I noticed it right away. The feel is there too now. I played (and still do) through tube amps for 35 years...
I have a buddy who ribs me all the time about using a "real tube amp" when I play out. Of course I poke fun back at him with cracks about unobtanium and unicorn farts etc etc.
I switched over full time to 100% digital direct for gigs (Helix) to PA a few months ago. I'm very happy with it and so...
Me I typically use Helix Native running in my DAW. I leave it on at all times so I can just pick up my guitar when sitting at the computer. I have to do lots of homework typically so it works out good to just pick it up and have it ready to rock.
Had a Tube Driver many years ago. Dont remember if I liked it but I do remember having the RT-2100 head and loved it. Was stolen from me when someone broke into my rehearsal studio years ago. Would love to run into one again. If I remember correctly that head HAD the Tube Driver circuit built...
Used and gigged tube amps (Marshall's, Mesa, Fender etc etc) for 30+ years. I bought a new Code 100 head a couple years ago and not sure if I got a bad one but it had zero balls no matter what I did. It sounded like a 10 watt SS
I am now 100% digital direct to PA with my Helix LT. many factors...
If it were me (which it's not obviously) I'd grab the Deluxe. I miss my 65 FSD RI so much.
This was my amp gig rig for a couple years.

I can really only keep it simple when I am practicing at home. I am in 3 bands that have a huge range of songs that I need my Helix to pull it all off. Delays, phasers, tremolo, chorus, poly pitch, reverbs, etc etc. All to capture the flavors of different songs. I admire people that can pull it...
Not for disortions no. You could for everything else. If you want a send and return I suggest the Nux MG-30 but thats 100 bucks more. You might get lucky and find a used Digitech RP-1000 for a couple hundred bucks.
