I think the CRex really makes a big difference in these amps. No ice pick treble, very smooth, but the highs stay clear and defined. Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer a nice vintage Deluxe Reverb, but for about $500, the BJRIII w/the CRex is hard to beat for home use, practice, etc.
Most every amp that Fender makes these days gets mixed reviews. I picked up a BJRIII with a Cannabis Rex speaker and was pleasantly surprised. It's quiet, sounds great clean and with pedals. Plus the reverb sounds good as long as you don't turn it up too much. The CB Rex gives it a smoother...
Looking to buy a Hermida/Lovepedal Dover Drive (white version). Email if you have one in good shape with box, manual etc. that you want to sell.
Thanks.
So a popular non-Marshall amp I am interested in on American Musical Supply's site has an option to buy a 'dent and scratch' model for a lot less $$ than a new one. They say they have about 15 of them (all with 'dents and scratches', mind you) in stock, which seems odd that they have that many...
For Sale: Brand new, mint condition, 'Xotic SL Drive' for $99 shipped/Paypal CONUS. Tried it out for about hour, but decided to go with a Ramble FX Marvel Drive instead for my 'Marshall in a box' fix. Comes with box, manual, 9v battery, and has no velcro on bottom. The SL Drive sounds great and...
My Plimsoul update: Sadly, I ended up selling the Plimsoul within a year after I gave it a glowing review. Not sure what changed, but after awhile it starting sounding very harsh, brittle and metallic to me. Seems like it really needed to be run at 18v and even then it sounded weird. Or maybe it...
Thanks for the info. Are the 6P3S a tight fit? Also, if I go with 6V6's do think JJ's or Tung Sol are a better tube for the Egnater? Playing mostly on the Fender clean setting and using a fuzz face and od pedals for distortion.
Thinking about replacing the stock Ruby 6v6gtstr tubs with matched pair of Tung Sols 6v6's. Do I need to be concerned about matching the PC and TC ratings that are on the existing stock tubes? (PC=36 and TC =3100). Not very knowledgeable about this, so appreciate any help.
Thanks.
For what my opinion is worth, I have a Belle Epoch and like it alot. Delay sounds great and the preamp gives a nice boost. Preamp has option of being on all the time, or just when delay is engaged. It has an internal 'gain trimmer' adjustment too, which I left at factory setting.
Personally, I felt the foot switch quality was suspect on the HOF and seemed to sometimes not engage properly. Heard there have been several complaints about this issue, but think TC may have rectified it. The unit itself sounded ok, perhaps somewhat bland as someone stated, so I sold it and got...
A guy named R. Gary Patterson has written some books about this and other rock star deaths. The allegation is Jimi's new UK manager (Michael Jeffrey) was involved, since Jimi was going to leave him and do this own thing, and the guy had invested a lot of cash in the Electric Ladyland studios...
Hendrix switched during his 'Band of Gypsy's' days, is what I have heard. Pretty sure the Ge fuzzes weren't too reliable back then. But also have heard Roger Mayer modded his pedals too. Those arbiter round fuzzes look great on the Sonus site, but $349 is a tad much for my wallet. They will...
Cool. Please report back. Some guys complain about it being too muddy, dark especially with humbuckers, but most reviews I have read are very favorable.
Anyone have some opinions on running the Velvet through a slighty dirty Marshall type amp? Curious if the Velvet is really designed for a clean amp setting.
Thanks.
