    i thought vai's tone was rich when i heard the roth album, but i found out later on that becker was the one who recorded "a little aint enough". GO BECKER! i should say vai's tone on "my guitar wants to kill yo mama" at the G3 concert wasnt bad at all though.

    satch's tone and vai's tone are both thin in my opinion. very "fragile", if you know what i mean. but satch's tone in the G3 with malmsteen was INSANE! especially when he played "the extremist"... though i'd prefer if he turned the treble a little lower and get some more bass. im guessing that...

    i personally prefer the boost pedals... like the zakk wylde mxr that i have than the mxr doubleshot distortion. distortion pedals are just too much for me! though i once tweaked in a real heavy sound (more like pantera, slayer) with the doubleshot distortion.

    im still not convinced that EMGs are more lifeless than passives like dimarzio or duncan well... steve vai used tissue to cover up the sound from the springs.
