    Should I buy the JCM1?

100% agree. It's also much more 'generic' Marshall tone rather than JCM800. My boost button will stay out (off) forever and I'll boost with an OD pedal as necessary for more gain. Sounds much more lively and much more JCM800 this way.

This JCM-1 will make me play better

It's such a great amp! I just got mine yesterday morning and I could not stop playing power chords all night yesterday!! The Jubilee mode sounds a bit more 'generic' and compressed but the normal JCM mode is awesome even if it has less gain. Make sure to try the JCM mode with a decent...

Marshall website - why do they mix current and discontinued models?

Haven't been checking Marshall models closely until recently and you really can't tell which are still in production and which are not. Thought the YJM was still being made - Same for the old DSL/TSL or the Class 5. They do not separate them and you have to be doing a lot of browsing through...

How close does the JCM-1 sound to the real thing?

How close does the JCM-1 sound to the real thing?

Thanks. Is the DT more modern sounding than the JCM-1? From youtube clips it sounds like a very high gain amp with rather smooth top but not 'american' type of smoothness - more like a blend of UK & US high gain tone? The JR#4 should not be very different to the DT.

slaving JCM-1 to FX loop (no -10db / +4db switch)

As I said in my post my ENGL has no switch for -10/+4 db. There is only send/return and a dry/wet knob. If the -10/+4db switch is only affecting the 'send' signal then it makes no difference anyway as I will plug straight from the JCM-1 to the return of the ENGL completely bypassing ENGL's...

slaving JCM-1 to FX loop (no -10db / +4db switch)

Yesterday already tried this: JCM1 -> Hot plate ("load" setting) -> lineout from hotplate -> return loop of my ENGL screamer 50. Great results but I would like to try it without the Hot plate for a more pure tone and less cables involved. My ENGL screamer 50 has FX loop without -10db +4db...

How close does the JCM-1 sound to the real thing?

How do you like your DT compared to JCM1? I know they are different beasts as the DT should have much much more gain. I had the DT targeted for some time though JCM won me due to the limited run, but it' still in my "wishlist". Is the DT worth it as well?

    Should I buy the JCM1?

Just tried another "safer" route. JCM1 -> Hot plate ("load" setting) -> lineout from hotplate -> return loop of my ENGL screamer 50.... OHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :headbanger: :headbanger: JCM TONE AT ANY VOLUME NOW!!!!!!!! what a bark this amp has!! it's not high gain but...

Just got my JCM1. Help!! (box had been opened)

That's probably a good idea though customer service in Europe is usually worse than USA. I might try Marshall UK headquarters as well. It's not that I "need" the manual, it's just that I "should" have it. As someone said above these amps are like a collector's item (not your usual...

Just got my JCM1. Help!! (box had been opened)

OK thanks, I have many other speaker cables of better quality, just wondering whether it was speaker or instrument.

    Should I buy the JCM1?

Can we safely run an instrument cable in 0,1W mode to the return of another power amp? This would solve the wattage and FX problem?

Just got my JCM1. Help!! (box had been opened)

Hey thanks! I got the head - sounds sweet though I expected just a bit more gain from it. It's also not so bright as I would have thought. Very balanced and classic hard rock sound from it. When pushed with a Hardwire tube OD in front it screams into metal!!!! :)

Thanks! Is the 1/4 cable a speaker or instrument cable?

Just got my JCM1. Help!! (box had been opened)

Yes the amp works, but I believe I paid a lot of money for an "anniversary" thing and I would really appreciate to know if I could be missing anything more inside. Thanks

Just got my JCM1. Help!! (box had been opened)

Hi guys, Just got my JCM-1 from a very large european retailer (by post). My problem is that the box must have been opened at some point after it was shipped by the factory. The 50th anniversary sticker was misplaced on the amp and I also found the JTM-1 manual inside (instead of the JCM-1)...
