I have been eyeing this amp for a while now.
I just casually browsed through this thread with excitement, but now I feel a bit disillusioned. In the early pages of this thread, this amp was being suggested as a low volume solution to get a real Plexi tone without breaking the bank on expensive...
Listen with your eyes closed and pretend it doesn't say Marshall on the head. Sounds dry, anemic, and uninspiring. So many better amps to choose from in this price range. All my opinion, of course, as what sounds good is highly subjective.
Ah, don't get me wrong. The Fryette is an amazing piece of gear and it only changes the tone at talking levels. To anyone reading this who needs an attenuator go ahead and get one, it's amazing. It's just my room is heating up like an oven and I have way too much gear all over the place... and I...
Hey Russ!
I'm thinking the KT66's are helping clean up the Jube's darker (dare I say congested tone). KT66's are supposed to breakup less and sound a bit clearer. I tried the Jube head and didn't like it for that reason, so I think the KT66's would help it a lot in that regard. I'm going to be...
Just wanted to update anyone who was following this thread.
I received my Fryette PS-2 attenuator a couple weeks ago and have been experimenting with it since then. The tone is changed a lot at high levels of attenuation but it has excellent EQ adjustments to compensate. The less attenuation...
Thank you very much for that. I'm now strongly leaning towards buying the Heritage G12-65 since it's said to sound identical to the original (which sounds like the non-scooped 75) and it's also made in England. I've narrowed it down to the Heritage G12-65 reissue or the Celestion Classic Lead...
Well... just bought the Fryette PS-2. I was going to get a cheaper one such as the Rivera reactive load since I didn't initially think I would need a reamping device, but decided on it anyway since I could use the FX loop feature and might get the AxeFXIII or Kemper in the future. The Fryette...
Is there any solid reactive attenuator that doesn't have a reamp feature? I don't need a reamping attenuator, but if that's what I gotta do then it's what I gotta do.
I received my Friedman Motor City Distortion pedal yesterday and opened the box with the excitement of a kid on Christmas. I played with it all day yesterday and this morning. It's definitely going back for a refund, sigh.... This pedal disgust me. It reminds me of the high-end audio scene where...
Well... it seems the majority of negative remarks about attenuators are for the non-reactive types which affect the tone more dramatically than the reactive ones. The itch to get an attenuator is strong still... but man, I paid less for my Superlead than the damn Fryette attenuator cost. If the...
With all due respect... I'm not buying it man. There's no way the cabinet is responsible for the differences between those two loaded Marshall cabinets. If British Audio were to swap the speakers from the cabinets I almost guarantee you 95%+ of the differences would translate over to the other...
I'd just like to ask for those in know... what the heck is going on here.
Speakers are labeled the exact same, same head, same cabinets basically... but obviously something is not what it seems. Why does the 1936V sound so much different than the 2536. The only difference is one cabinet...
Ok, just an update. I went ahead and ordered the Friedman Motor City drive and it should be here this week. I was initially a bit turned off by it after finding out where and how these "boutique" pedals are really made, but I suppose the only important thing is how it sounds and my need of a...
Yeah... I think that's what I'll have to do. I really hate buying stuff with the intention of returning it but I'm planning to buy loads of accessories and other effects pedals that I need also, so it should make it worthwhile for the merchant.
I saw the Origin20H. I would probably enjoy that...
I need some helps guys and hopefully this isn't a dumb question, but...
I have a 100W non-master Superlead which sounds wonderful. I play it dimed sometimes or I run a pedal into it when I need bedroom levels. I was searching for an attenuator and realized the "best" one for my needs is the...
I think I get where you're coming from now. I could have got a much better sound with the Jubilee if I used it like a non-master head dimed and then barely turn up the input gain to get enough breakup. This would have probably allowed it to open up a lot more and get rid of that congested tone...
