Uhhm, what am I doing wrong now? After a couple days playing with this setup, the V is standing out in the mix. I thought this was because the combo is on top of the cabinet.
Enlighten me! :)
The V30's are out of the cab, and the Greenbacks are in. Its like night and day! I have so much more control of the EQ now. The V30's dominated the whole rig!
As explained, I am using the internal V-Type with the cab. I think the V-Type is a bit more sterile tonally. Its hard to tell in the...
With that equation I am looking at a 40 watts from the combo, and 75 watts from the speaker set? I plan to use the internal speaker with the cab!
Should be good to go?
Cool, thank you. I ordered 2 Greenies from Sweetwater. The rep. assured me of no power issues especially if using the internal combo speaker with the cab.
Actually curious how the V-Type is going to interact with the Greenbacks!?
Thanks again
Could I run the combo's internal V Type with the Greenbacks in the cab (8 ohm wired in series) at the same time? That would give me a total load of 120 watts, correct?
Hmm
Yeah, these V30's are brand new. I probably have about 50 hours on them and will let someone else finish breaking them in :)
As suggested I'll be using 2 of the same speaker in this cab, so actually was thinking about 2 of the G12H Heritage. That's 40 watts of amp going into 60 watts of cab...
Ok, I get that! I talked to the owner of Scumback as well. He had a couple good ideas! One was replacing the V30's with 2 BM75's. He came to that conclusion because I mentioned early EVH tone and Ritchie Blackmore.
That is more and more sounding like the best idea. I really appreciate all the...
That seems to be the consensus which I was thinking might be an issue anyway.
Is there anything to couple with a V30 in a 2x12 diagonal cab that will chill that thing out? As mentioned I've liked the Greenback in the past for what i play.
The V30 may be fine through quite a few amps, but...
Hello everyone,
I've been running a DSL40CR into a Orange 2x12 cabinet with 2 V30's. I've never played through V30's and am definitely hearing what many describe as a mid spike. and they sound a little grindy to me.
I prefer Greenbacks, so what would be the possible verdict of running one...
We have the phatness :) The Orange cab was just delivered and sounds incredible.
Its night and day compared to the Boogie cab, and can only think something was wrong in the wiring on it.
Thanks for all the help
Also, one more question. I like the Orange 2x12 quite a bit and thinking about...
I'm using a Tele and Strat with a Duncan JB in the bridge.
This whole issue was probably the cabinet. It sounded like a phone speaker on steroids. It was used and had to have had someone in the back screwing around with the wiring. No Boogie cab should sound like that thing did! I took it back...
I wonder if it being a slant cab is just projecting that shrill tone? It sounds like a banshee screaming, and my ears can't take it :)
I may drag this thing back and get a straight 2x12 of some make.
I am starting to lean on the cabinet being the problem. I have never played a cabinet that differs so dramatically in sound depending where you stand.
Directly off to one side or the other and it sounds warm and punchy. Straight ahead and standing back about 20 feet and its just a shrill...
Thanks for the reply. I have a MXR 10 band EQ that should be here in a few days. Maybe that will fix it up!
Could it possibly be the V30's in the Boogie cab that are the culprit? I had Creambacks in the Egnater cab.
I can't imagine that being an issue, but maybe?
Hello everyone.
I just sold my older rig which was a DSL40C (speaker unplugged) played through an Egnater Tourmaster 2x12. I kept the DSL on clean and ran a Wampler Pinnacle for dirt. Sounded pretty good, but a bit flubby on the low end. Might have been the Wampler? Not sure!
Anyway, I wanted...
