I might get an used JCM 2000 DSL 100 from GC and I was wondering if there are any cabs that are similar to Marshall 1936 but less expensive.

cheers!

Second on the Avatar cabs! I have 3
with the open-partially closed-closed back option and love them.

If you want dirt cheap to buy but good quality I also recommend looking at the Jet City JCA24S.
Thanks I will look into it. My budget it about $500 USD and I play mostly 80s rock and old school metal.

I also travel to Canada quite a lot. Are Traynor cabs any good?

Avatar is top quality stuff for good price.

For cheap and decent check Seismic

I have a Seismic 2x12 that's similar to the contemporary avatar that I got for $149 shipped. All plywood. Again not as nice as an Avatar but better than the mdf 1936 I used to have

$500 is plenty to get a great cab. Sourmash would be my choice (custom colors, anyway you like), or Avatar as well.

You can get a used 1936 for less than that, too, but you want to make SURE that it is a newer one, from 2012-2014, as they are birch ply. They are MDF from 1991 to 2012, and don't sound the same, and are heavier.
The old ones from the 1980's are all plywood, too.

Easy way to check is pull the input jack and look at the edges of the wood used.
