Flame top or plain???

I love the look of flames sometimes, but the LP’s that make my heart skip a beat tend to be plain tops or very subtle flames.

I like both tops and have both tops in my Gibson LPS collection. I just dont care for the over the top flame tops, know what I mean??

Me too. I bought the R9 flametop mostly because it's usually deemed the 'holy grail'. While I love the flame on it and it does sound unique, I prefer the color of my R8. The picture of it on the previous page shows some red due to the camera & lighting, but what looks red in the photo is actually closer to ice tea in person. I recently traded that R8 in on a beautiful $5K PRS Purple Iris flametop with the Piezo bridge. Within 12 hours over 2 days, I hated it and got my R8 back ASAP. I will never again put any of my current guitars up for trade. Cash-only, or I don't buy.
