If we're talking HOLY GRAIL it would have to be the 1967 jtm 50 with tube rectifier....just before the black flag. I owned one years back and foolishly traded it for a mid 50's gibson ga40. Didn't realize the thing would be worth 5k now!!! I also had a really nice 81' 2104 combo that really ripped. But today I am happy with my jvm410. Doesn't have the sweet midrange of the old amps but the versatility serves me right for what I'm playing these days....and I don't need to crank it to get great tones.

My JVM410HJS is the only Marshall I've ever played therefore it is at the top of my list. Picked it over the 1959HW after weeks of back and forth. I could not be more pleased.
Just sold my HJS, I'm happy and the new owner loves it. :)

If OP already has the TSL60 and is looking for more there are 2 prime choices IMO although I would consider neither the "holy grail": TSL100 (cheap at ~$500-600) or JVM410 (much expense). Pair either with a 1960a cab and your choice of speakers and enjoy. I'm sure there are better amps if you only want that AC/DC type sound but the amps that do that extremely well aren't as likely to be able to cover the 80s metal that was mentioned (I could be wrong here too).

The TSL100 is a lot more versatile than it gets credit for, it's just a bit picky about getting dialed in. The Lead channel is especially finicky about EQ and gain settings. Mine has all aftermarket tubes so it might sound like crap stock and maybe that's why it gets a bad rap.

Holy Grail 5 for me:

Original 1963 close input JTM45
JTM45/100 Super Lead
18 watt 2x12 combo
1968/69 Super Lead
1987 Jubilee 2555

I've had every one of these at one time or another, and every one sounded great.

Top of my list, is a Jubilee. It hits most all the tones I want, and is the sound I associate with Marshall. I like the JCM for its similar tone. I like the JVM for the pure insanity of it all. Though... it's still distinctly Marshall. I like the JMP for the big, full, ballsy, Marshall honk. I like the DSL, because everything seems to sound good on it (though most of my guitars were tested on one).

One of these came through my local GC. Full stack. I didn't get a chance to play it. A buddy said a guy walked in, asked if he could play it. Plugged in, turned it up to... well, the heavens heard that one. Said he busted into a bunch of old 70s stuff and it sounded incredible.

He unplugged, and left. Everyone was kind of dazed.

Though, he came back within the week and bought it. :thumb:

I don't even remember how much they wanted. It was a considerable amount.
