Marshall has 3- versions of the class 5 amplifier
1st one was discontinued due to rattle and noise
2nd was disc. because of circuit design and tube layout
the 3rd is the Best By Far !!
low power switch (very cool)
The cabinet is thicker making it a little bigger(3/8"-1/2") all around
the circuit is better and the tubes point down for easy install,
on like ver. 1 and 2 you had to take the amp almost apart to access tubes?
the control knobs are higher quality and the input is Metal not Plastic.
side by side they sound almost the same...ver. 3 seems cleaner?
I am doing a few Modz to this amp...
1. changed speaker to...10" celestion greenback 30watt (cleaner sound, better breakup when cranked!)
2. changing transformers to...Mercury Magnetics (better sound!!!)
3. custom ampRiser...
