Hi everyone. I was wanting to share my new amp, a 1965 JTM45 script logo. I have serial number 1213 and recently got serial 3200 - both PA spec and share many component and cosmetic similarities. The similarity but relatively large serial spacing is interesting.

Both have thick gold T-bar on the front.
Both are script
Both are green/black levant
Both have large wooden block supports in the cabinet
Both have 2 output jacks (one has a 3rd added output)
Both have perforated boards
Both have selectors on transformers

Both PA spec but one has "speakers" and the other has "speaker".

3200 has had some cap changes but is otherwise in great shape. I will need to get it running KT66s. Someone spray painted the mains transformer for some reason - perhaps to prevent rust?

I also scored a 2x12 with 3200 with original Marshall-labeled "Silverdale Road" speakers - unfortunately the other column was stolen many years ago. The cones are unfortunately not in great shape but still a cool piece of history.

I am not too clued up on the circuits so if anyone has any observations, please chime in. 0ebdc5f1-4fa3-4ff1-a533-eadf0bddd576.jpeg345c59b8-2428-4019-9d0d-3ccfc63b9069.jpeg929e4d00-a95b-40f0-a66d-4ded1d270f97.jpeg4057fe76-f62c-43b1-b4d1-25c1af8f9d1f.jpegbbc922b9-bd64-45a1-af30-80f2b96adcf0.jpegc334ca87-ae69-400a-bf79-16b95bd491cc.jpegdd5b9c5b-04b3-423d-b760-8a7577c4db98.jpegfc23877d-88af-4ed2-b4d4-3b53efc2cdc0.jpeg719d7909-aa23-4f53-9714-08068934bc4b.jpeg

Well done.
Looks like and excellent acquisition.
The basis of the amp is really good, main components and joints appear untouched.
The recap was done by someone that was doing a pragmatic repair rather than by someone familiar with the correct parts for this particular amp (like a computer tech or someone just used to modern gear).
If you are in the UK and want it done properly with correct parts - let me know

Hi Neil. Thanks for the great response as always. The amp is with my tech getting all the rights bits back in place. I am in South Africa so unfortunately your services are a bit far away! I do really appreciate the offer. I had another pair of GEC KT66s so I am looking forward to hearing these 2 side by side. Hopefully they both have the "it" that you speak of!

Very nice score! I use to have a 1969 #1986 and a 1972 1986. All I have now are two Astoria's, a combo & a head, a 2005 #1974x & # & a #2061 head and #2061cx and a #5005 combo and a 50th Anniversary JTMC(I put an alnico Elac speaker in it) And... I built a Style #1 Bluesbreaker combo with alnico Celestyions that have Marshall speaker labels marked "Silverdale Rd".

The only thing you need now is get rid of the junk CCP tubes and find some old school Tung Sol 5881 brown base tubes, Telefunken ECC83s and an old 60s GZ34 with an 'L' or 'X' code with double D top getters

Maybe😉
I go for a set of Mullard ECC83s in the preamp, Mullard GZ34 and a pair of GEC KT66. I never really bonded with 5881s in any of my JTM45s.
YMMV but my similarly equipped JTMs are my all time favourites.

I find Telefunken to sound sterile, especially in V1. YMMV

That’s how my clone is equipped, and I wholeheartedly agree.
