Polyester or other?

Hey guys, does a polyester finish have that sticky feel that most players don't want. And how does it compare to other finishes?

it's what Fender uses. that's all I got.

Feels like regular polyurethane. My strat has it.

Ok, but how is it when applied to the neck of a guitar? Is it one of the stickier feeling finishes?

The newer American Standard Strats have more of a satiny feel on the back, although they are still using poly, so Fender does recognize that to some people it's an issue. My 2001 deluxe has the shiny glossy poly on the back. I have no trouble with the deluxe at all, and the neck is smooth as butter, but I really do love the feel of the new necks.

it was to me on the old c& HM series guitars but I wet sanded them a bit & they got faster. a dab of lemon oil or fast fret never hurts either.
