Cool, cool. I'm currently (still :/) Marahall-less, and the TSL60 head is in the running.

How's the bass on them? What I mean is, the bass on my TSL 100 head I had seemed to get, not loose or mushy, but almost buzzy... like it distorted too quickly. Does the 60 do that at all?

I don't use much gain at all on the TSL and I don't use hot pickups. With all of the gain available in these amps, it is really easy to get them sounding buzzy. The louder the amp is, the better the low end will sound.

I haven't had a problem with the bass being buzzy on mine. I mostly play classic rock type stuff.

^^^ welcome to the forum & the Marshall family!

The TSL is a highly underestimated amp.

Cheers! Unfortunately the guy hasn't been around the past couple of days so I've been unable to pick up yet, but should have it by the end of today :D

I am loving mine. Supposed to be harsh but I don't hear it.

My TSLs have always been real smooth sounding. To be honest, because of that, I've always thought DSLs are harsh...

I use my TSL with medium output pups and have to say that it really doesn't sound harsh at all. You do have to mess around with the gain/volume ratio to get a smooth sound though...

If there is a gripe with my TSL, it's the clean channel... Nothing special, but I make do... Mostly play crunch and Lead anyway

Hey guys, found a flashback on the "bay". Someone is selling an NOS NEW in the box 2003 TSL 100 head that was shelved as a backup for years.

Never thought I'd have the opportunity to own a "NEW" TSL 100 Head without a time machine. LOL

If I hadn't just outfitted my own with Winged C's and new 12AX7s I would definitely bid.

Just thought it interesting, and prob a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I saw that brand new, still boxed TSL on eBay. It's sooo tempting but I have enough amps right now. Can't justify it.

It was somewhere around $800-$900? Not too bad for an unused amp I guess. I wouldn't go much higher though.

Hi guys. I just snagged a 2001 TSL122 locally from a guy on CL for $150. He said he bought it new, along with a TSL100 head and 1960A cab, and said he never had a problem with it, he just didn't use it anymore. It's been gigged, but all considered, it's in pretty decent shape. I spent a couple hours with it today, and I've got to say I'm very stoked about how good it sounds. I'm planning to tear it down soon, check the tubes, clean it up, replace the grille cloth (it has a small hole in it), put some casters on it (it's frikkin' heavy), and call it good.

A TSL122 for $150!!!! Great deal! I wish the used market around me was that good. I check kijiji for ANY marshall and only get MG's or $1500 DSL's.

This was an especially killer deal even for Portland, and when I saw it, I jumped on it immediately.

I've been looking for a 122 for a while, and the lowest price I'd seen up until this one was $500, and it was pretty beat up. This one just needs a bit of cleaning and a new piece of grille cloth and it'll look as great as it sounds. :yesway:

Just thought that I would add a post to this thread on a great amp..
I have stuck up for the tsl, and maybe took things with a little bit of surprise, when people knocked it...because it wasn't a DSL...and in hind sight, that's a good thing!

I am still amazed at how many guys that I know, or run in to, that are GREAT
guitarists, that really like a TSL100...

Mine has Mercury upgrades and NOS tubes, and when compared to anything else, I am reminded of how damn good it sounds....great cleans, fat crunch, and soaring lead tones with balls to the walls.
When plugging in to one, after a 70's JMP, or a Vintage Modern...there is no let down!!

If anyone has the coin, or the ability to do so...the best I ever heard is a TSL
through a vintage greenback cab...not blackbacks, but pre 73 greenbacks.
Just a magical combination!!
Tone and ripping overdrive for days..
I used it with a mix of V30/G12H for years, live...and never even considered greenbacks or vintage greenies until recently.

Bottom line, what a classic amp...:hbang:

Hi guys. I just snagged a 2001 TSL122 locally from a guy on CL for $150.
Damn, and I was thinking that the TSL60 and 1960 for $600 that I saw the other day was a great deal. If cash wasn't so tight, I would have been all over it.

I finished cleaning it up, fixed a couple small Tolex tears, checked the tubes and bias, added some castors, and decided to call it done. The hole in the grille cloth is small and doesn't bother me, so I'll leave it alone for now. Here she is all cleaned up.
