I saw this coming, Marshall hasn't made quality amps since the 90's, I switched to ENGL a long time ago

I just registered my new DSL5 combo today. This little amp kicks so much ass it ain't even funny. Today's news? Means nothing to me, other than I'm now curious about the refrigerator decked out in Marshall mini-stack attire stocked with some sort of Marshall branded beverage that greeted me at the website I just registered my amp at. Hmmm...

I don't know a lot about Zond but i know that their marshall headphones are nice. Swedish people seem to be relatively competent in engeneering and have a less capitalistic culture inside their companies. They are more like socialists capitalists.

For example in switzerland many people say the worst thing that can happen to a swiss company is being bought by an american big group. They tend to only care about money and forget about employees and the product quality... Swedish companies usually are the opposite.

The big issue i can see is that they would only listen to their locals for their amp section with viking and swedish metal xD!

if it's the case we will end up with marshall models called the Valhalla 50, Drekki 100, Sverd 20 🤣

I guess that they should be competent enough to make marshall modelling something.

Two beers says they're going to bring out a "distressed" or "relic'ed" amp out within 2 years time. Change my mind. :coffee:

I reckon that Jim Marshall stuck in his will that they would have to wait 10 years at least to sell the company(or something along those lines ) he passed away just under 11 years ago and this was probably in the pipeline for a while, a friend was telling me that something similar was included on the Factory site, it wouldn't surprise me if they sold that off in the near future as well.

Perhaps Jim's will went to 11?

I work for a company that has gobbled up mainstays. It didn't work out all that well really. I have a Marshall Code 50 and an Origin 20 head. I have been very happy with both of these, although I play on the Origin more than the Code. I don't have the money to buy the real McCoys but what I have is great and I couldn't be happier.

They should take a look at what Blackstar is doing for inspiration. They're missing out on a big market by not having something comparable to the Amped 2 unit and there's no reason they couldn't have their own version of the new Debut50 or Super Crush amps. Hopefully the new owners will encourage innovation and want to offer new products that are comparable to what Blackstar etc are doing right now.

Definite trend, I knew about Gibson/Mesa, but forgot that Fender owns Gretsch, Jackson, Charvel, and EVH.

I think Yamaha owns Line 6.

Way of the business world I guess.

Really curious about the Amped2 Blackstar....great reviews. Hard to imagine the demise of tube amps, but seems to be headed that direction.

It was one thing when Korg distributed Marshall but when Zounds now OWNS Marshall that will be different. I've owned a few vintage Marshalls and they were really good but none of the new stuff appeals to me, other than the handwired vintage reissues. And truthfully there are other boutique companies who do that better. Same with Fender - the old tweeds, brownface and blackfaces are great, the new handwired reissues are good and the rest of the line is pretty meh. Its hard to mass produce an icon.

We are perhaps overreacting no ? i mean the guys know they make money because of the name of the company however if they screw its name where will they cash in ?

the fact that marshall becomes a kind of altec lansing could be nice. If they make more money perhaps they will be able to improve the amp's quality and bring back pcb like those :
