there is a finite amount of NOS around. they will get harder and more $$$ to find.
i would stick to current production valves. but that's just my opinion :wave:
Re: noisy hum/buzz from SG
thanks shredless
i'll open it up and check it out. i'm out of town and don't have
my multi-tester, or my other guitar to compare it to.
[edit] turns out my friend had a guitar for me to try.
same thing. noisy with a single pickup and quiter with two.
moving the...
hey guys.
my SG is making a sound like when you plug in a chord to an amp
but no guitar. this happens with the bridge and the neck pickups alone.
when i switch to both pickups the noise stops.
any suggestions :confused:
solid advice, and a good read in Marty's sticky.
i recommend buying a couple of Tung Sol, and a couple EH. then do some tube rolling
using Marty's method. if you want more option$ you could throw a Mullard RI in the mix.
the Mullard RI sounds hi-fiish to me in V1. if you want a mellower tone...
hey all you 64 1/2 - 66 convertible Mustang lovers.
how about a brand new one? read on.
i want to see them bring back the 67-68 fastback! :fingersx:
a 4 barrel (used quadrajet) and a 50-100 shot of Nitrous will wake that 307 up :naughty:
if you go with juice make sure it set up to come on at...
how good are your with a soldering iron diesect? the schematic for it is here.
note the output legs are wrong. it is 2&4 NOT 2&5! for 8ohm output and 1&4 for 16ohm (15).
if your not good with an iron i could possibly help you via PM :hmm:
i ditched C8 as many complained it made the amp dark...
well i changed my V1 coupling cap again. first time was from .0022 to .0047
it sounded thicker and better, but palm muting was still lacking.
rather than try the next step (.01) i just made the jump to .022
V2 has a .022 as well.
your right Brian, i do like this better :dude:
[edit] it didn't...
another Dimebag wah user here. it's so freakin flexible!
* switchable kick boost with volume (when wah effect is on)
* Variable Q (width of wah effect)
* toe down fine adjustment
* 6 range settings
* heavy duty sealed pot
* "true hardware" bypass (DB02)
* red fazel
it's the swiss army knife of...
i built a 2x12 with two greenbacks weighing in at 80lbs (36kg) :eek2:.
cost me the speakers, wire, jacks, handles, feet/bumpers, and some time.
i'm swapping the greenbacks for higher wattage speakers.
cranked my 2204 puts out around 90W:Ohno: i cooked one greenback very quickly.

put on your rubber boots, because there is a lot of BS around about his gear.
some coming from Ed himself.
Ed's early sound was through what my brother and i think is a 67-68 transitional Plexi head.
meaning it had some circuitry from both years to give it that fat tone.
i believe it was the...
WGS users seem to love them and they aren't expensive at all IMO.
too clean? what about adding a PPIMV (post phase inverter master volume).
many purists frown on master volume tone but power section distortion comes
from the phase inverter. my brothers Plexi clone (PLX100) has one. its sounds...
2x12 with greenbacks with a "50W" head is asking for trouble if you like to crank it up.
50W heads are capable of around 90W when pushed hard.
i quickly blew one of my greenbacks in my 2x12 with my 2204.
if your set on a 2x12 check out the WGS 50W Invader.
or a 4x12 with 25W green...
