Ive heard these are great sounding but come with heating issues. I need a portable amp for rehearsal that can also have an extension cab for gigging small/medium venues (mic'd up if needed). I would want to use both channels.
Any ideas about reliability or mods that would need to be made...
Ive had a few amps that have the emulated out feature and all claim to be the best ever - however they are totally rubbish hyper fuzz, no tone awful sounding. Why is this?
I would have thought that PA's would do a good job with the signal, I can only assume that the signal it sends out is...
Well, on that note, my TSL60 is an amazing amp - not many would deny that. But it didn't suit my "complete" need. It was great for the rock band I was in as I didn't use many effects, now i'm in an indie rock band and use lots of chorus/delay in many combinations so the JVM is perfect (for me)...
Hi,
TRANSPORTATION!
Quite a big factor really, I started with a 2x12 and it was great for practice and small gigs. I moved onto a TSL60 + 4x12 cab, it was AMAZING at practice and ANY gig :D
The head and cab is hard work to keep lugging around if you practice away from home with the...
Hi, I have a JVM 210c which is 100w. I wanted the 50w version but managed to get a very good deal the the 100w and the £'s have a big influence!
I prefer to drive the amp and a friend told me I can remove two of the power amp valves and this will reduce it to 50W and allow me to drive...
Hi,
I am wondering about using a Peavey 4x10 tvx bass cab and wondering what the pros and cons are for guitar?
I know about the Fender bassman series etc and some people rave about the bass cab thing but I might be pointing a friend into buying one so wanted to be sure first.
Any comments...
Hi again, just to add some closure here :)
We just gigged this evening, sound checked with the guitars after we did the drums, bass, vox. The lead used an eq pedal with the hi mids boosted and i set the low mids higher on my od's, BOY OH BOY DID WE SOUND GOOD TONIGHT!
Thanks for all the...
oh....and if you set the gt8 to blues driver and tweak the eq a little to bring out the bass and highs then you can get extremely (but not exactly) close to the tsl od's! just a point.
Hi Imnoone,
I have a GT8 and am still learning about what it can do after nearly 2 years.
I have a TSL 60 and tried to use delays, reverbs, od's, phlangers etc with it but found it too complicated trying to mix these with the amps overdrive/distortion channels. The problems I had were 1...
yes im the main rhythm sound mate, i preferred the tsl tones but it got complicated when adding fx to the amp etc so opted for my boss gt8 to keep things simple.
Thanks scat7s, I completely agree with what you say about the recording, and I do think we/I dial too much gain into our live shows too so I will pay attention to that.
If I'm honest, the first thing I noticed after we got the CD was that the gain was too high - it sounded different pre mix...
Thanks for all the advice guys. This all adds up to most of the ideas that I had but I wasn't sure of the best approach.
I think the solution is to do a combination of most things stated here:
Get our tones sorted at rehearsals (which we nearly have) to what sounds good by balancing our...
Hi, our band uses me on Gibson firebird through marshall tsl with 4x12 and our lead guitarist on fender strat with vox 2x12& fender twin paired up. Our music is indie/rock example at allsharppoints.net
Our problem is that now we are thinking about developing our songs etc our tone can be hit...
Cheers again guys, my tech friend has a set of JJ EL34's and some 12AX7's in stock.
Can I still not run them at 90mv or is it a case that it's not needed due to being new?
