I'm not sure what country you live but in Australia, we got all genres all the time(even punk on citizen and uni radio),on different radio stations.I mean they were genre specific(something to please everyone).

Try a Mark III,is all i can say.I prefer them over the SLX's too.I was the same as you about same about the DSL's,i didn't like them at all.If your not happy with the SLX,you MUST try a Mark III sometime(in the flesh)
If you mod for no reason,that means your a "gear geek" and music is generally irrelevant.
