Well, it turned out OK. I took the 4 ohm back to GC for credit. They didn’t have the 8 ohm, but Amazon did, and I have Prime. So if anybody is interested in how the Celestion works in an MG, I’ll post in a few days.
I ordered a replacement Celestion 8 15 for my beater amp, a MG15DFX. But the speaker that came is a 4 ohm, and I think the (awful) original is 8 ohm. Can I get away with the 4 ohm Celestion in my amp?
I’ll tell you what...I’ve owned several vintage Fender Champs, and my DSL1CR is 100% more satisfying to play. I played a DSL 40 at Guitar Center and loved it. After all, it’s our own ears that count.
My only experience with the Vietnam-made DSLs is my DSL1CR, which I’ve had for several months now. It’s been problem free, and I think it’s the best living room amp I’ve ever had, better than the vintage Fender Champs I’ve owned (the DSL’s clean/slightly gritty tone nails what I’m looking for)...
I don’t know...I bought a DSL1CR earlier this year that I absolutely love, and which has been problem-free. I’ve owned lots of low wattage little amps (including some vintage Champs) and the Marshall sounds way better to me, especially for around $300 US. It seems very solid.
One of the big attractions of the Code for me is the ability to play with some classic Marshall flavors, like the Plexi, JTM, etc. And it's really small and light.
I'm a new Marshall convert, although I have been an amateur player for decades. I grabbed a DSL1CR earlier this year, and I love it, especially the Classic Gain channel. I'd like to get another non-tube amp as a backup. I have an old MG15DFX. Are the new MGs any better? How about the Code 25? Or...
I have to join in here. I'm not only a new member for the 1 Watt Club, I'm a new member of the Marshall family.
My DSL1CR is my first ever Marshall amp. I'm a middle aged guy, and my current amp needs are strictly living room only, so I couldn't resist grabbing the DSL1CR, which just debuted...
