DSL40CR cured my Friedman BE-50 Deluxe withdrawls

Had to sell my beloved BE-50 Deluxe and I sure was missing it. Great amp. I bought a DSL40CR a while back so I wasn't left without an amp thank goodness. Anyway retubed it with some Sventlana EL34s and biased it. Did some preamp tube swapping as well. Got the 40CR EQ and settings all dialed in...

Quick question on biasing Marshall Amp

My house wiring and current is fine. That was just an off the cuff example I used. When the AC is on along with a 70 inch TV, high power two channel stereo amp and other electronics I show about 2ma difference per side vs everything turn off. My 2018 410H was biased pretty hot on one side and...

Quick question on biasing Marshall Amp

Thanks guys. Wasn't sure. Have it all biased up and sounds great. Came from the factory biased pretty cold so I warmed her up a little. Amazing what a little bias adjustment can do to overall tone.

Quick question on biasing Marshall Amp

Biasing my JVM410H. Question is the house AC changes when home lights, AC, appliances and anything else that draws AC current is on or off. Example if my TV and stereo are on the ma rating may be 30ma on a tube but when I turn off all AC loads that tube may jump to 36ma. Should I turn off all...

Bought me a JVM410H and impressed

Just got through dialing in my new to me JVM410H. I also have a Friedman BE-50 Deluxe and even though its a great amp I have always loved Marshalls. My first live concert was Hendrix and on that day my love of Rock played through a Marshall amp was born. Also was the day I decided I wanted to...

    Bigger is not always better...?

I downgraded from a full stack in my music room to a half stack. Does that count? Will not go smaller than that. A 4x12 just does it for me vs a combo or even a 2x12 cab. Just added a 410h so now I can switch from my BE 50 Deluxe when I feel like some more tonal flavors. In saying all that...

Why have I overlooked JVM’s all these years ???

Not sure why JVMs are going used so cheap. At least compared to what they sell for new. I have a Friedman BE-50 Deluxe but a 2018 build date JVM410H in mint condition popped up locally for sale at a great price and I bought it yesterday. While the BE-50 is fantastic I still like owning a...

Can you help an old man wrap head around FX loop on JVM?

Thanks guys. Big help. Sure enough I was plugged in to the wrong loop. I was hooked through the Power amp insert loop. Sounded pretty good though with the front FX button disengaged. However thanks to you guys I now have it hooked through the proper send and return. Do not know how I missed...

Can you help an old man wrap head around FX loop on JVM?

Trying to understand something and I guess my old brain is having a hard time understanding. I know what my ears tell me. Anyway I am running a Helix through my JVM205c using the 4 cable method. Just like I have been doing on my Freidman BE50. Here is what throws me off. Actually two things...

    New to me JVM 205c

Hi all. I have been using my Friedman BE50 Deluxe and 4x12 Friedman Cab. Love it but I have always had a thing for Marshall amps. Decided it was time to bring one back into the family. Found a used JVM 205c at a good price so I bought it. When I first played it at home I just could not get it to...

    Marshall Dsl 40 Cr

Mmmm. DSL40CR with a Cream 90. Have not tried that yet and I have two Cream 90s sitting around doing nothing right now. I put a 12m-65 Creamback in mine and think it sounds great but now you have my curiosity up. Damn! Where is my screwdriver! You know what else sounds great is the 40CR going...

    Dsl20cr - Fourth Time's A Charm??

Completely quiet. Normal hiss if I run the gain up very high but I don't. No more hiss than my Smallbox 50.

    Dsl20cr - Fourth Time's A Charm??

First one had FX loop issues. 2nd one had foot switch switching issues. 3rd had a noise issue where it had a low rumbling in the background and a loud hiss even at lower gain settings. 4th and current working great (so far) and sounds fantastic. Keeping my fingers crossed it continues to do so.

    Dsl20cr - Fourth Time's A Charm??

It also took me four 40CRs until I got one that worked correctly. I had all but given up but after the third decided one more time. Only because others said theirs worked fine or their replacements worked fine. That and the damn thing sounds so good. So far and a month later my last one seems to...

    Dsl40r And Friedman 4x12

Received my new Friedman 4x12 cab last week to go with my Friedman Smallbox 50. Decided I had to try the cab with my DSL40CR and am blown away at how great it sounds. The Friedman has two Greenbacks on top and two V30s on the bottom. Just thought I would mention it in case you are thinking about...

    C19 Mod On A 2018 Dsl 20cr?

I have the 40cr and the first thing I did was check the bias. Seems a lot of DSLs come biased hot from the factory. I also switched out the speaker to a 12m-65 Creamback. Have no brightness issues as all now.

Looking For New Speaker And Tubes For My Dsl40cr

I swapped the V for a 12m-65 Creamback in mine and love it. Tried different tubes and all I ended up doing was putting a Gold Lion in V1. One of the most important things to do with the CR is make sure its biased correctly. Many come biased very hot. Mine was at 40ma and I biased it down to...

Considering 1977 Jmp Marshall 2100 Master Volume Combo

Going to go check out and possibly buy a 1977 Marshall JMP 50 watt combo. It’s the 2100 model with master volume, two inputs and two 12 inch Marshall labeled black back speakers. Is there anything I should look for that might be signs of issues? It’s also supposed to be all original. Also any...
