    NAD: 1970 Marshall Super Bass

Great amp! I read somewhere that Malcolm had a 1970 Superbass in his backline. Power transformer was prone to failure in these. Chris Merren makes a highly regarded replica T2562.

Wow! I forgot how loud a NMV amp can be.

The JTM45 can be prone to oscillation. Try chopsticking the wiring. Particularly the feedback wire. I wonder if the feedback resistor is stock?

Upgrading Hammond transformers, best budget/midrange options?

I built a JTM45 with Marstran transformers which sounds great imho. I did some choke swapping and was quite surprised what a difference that made to the overdriven sound. A 3H choke definitely has more Marshally grind than the 20H Marstran choke.

    Vintage Impedence Selector Question

My Superbass had a busted impedance selector like yours. I enlarged the hole through the middle of the switch and fitted a NKK HS-13Y Heavy Duty 1 pole 3 way. No extra hole in the chassis. Great switch

1960A Cab mono/stereo switch bypass help

I had this problem too. Replacement jacks fixed it. They were corroded. The switch itself was fine...

    radio interference! GRRR!

Try cleaning or re-tensioning the tube socket contacts. Particularly V1. An amp rental company brought me a 2203 that would pick up radio stations. New sockets cleared it up.

    not a very happy NCD

I had this same problem. It was corrosion on the switching contacts on one of the jack sockets.

^^^^^ Looks that way to me too. Is there a code number on the output transformer?

Removing 2 of 4 Power Tubes

I think there are two reasons amp manufacturers don't recommend this. 1, because you need to "mismatch" your amp and cab impedance and it's confusing for most people. And 2, you DEFINITELY need to re-bias the amp because the plate voltage will rise if 2 tubes are removed and your tube...

    Wake up the vintage section.

How old is vintage? Plexipanel only? Or do pre '73 turretboard metalface amps qualify? Or early PCB amps?

Are marshall 1960's the best 4 x 12 cabs on market today?

I thought about siliconing the insides of my cabs but how do I seal the back panel given that the interior vertical battens don't go all the way to the top?

    I want this CAB

Wow! They like big guitar amps in China? Can't wait to see more pix and your thoughts on the show.

Are marshall 1960's the best 4 x 12 cabs on market today?

Absolutely! :applause:And if they're beat up (which I like) then they're reasonably priced too. I just love my mine.

Well that's good to know! I'm going to try this as well. Thanks for posting

    Kinda N.m.v Type Build

Congrats on a great looking build. I had a lot of problems with oscillation with the presense control in my first JTM 45 build. Sounded really gainy too. I finally realised the Shug in V1 was microphonic. Less gain now I've replaced it but completely stable. Those Chinese valves are fine...

    CJM800 heads, 50 vs 100

+1. I tried it and it seemed a bit pointless. Still loud as fvck but didn't sound as ballsy.

    JTM 45 questions

JTM45 is still loud as hell if you want crunch. Lovely cleans though. Maybe run it clean and use it with pedals? Just my .02
