    Those Marshall solid state amps aren't that great...in fact I think they're really terrible Save up a bit more money and you'll be able to get a good valve amp 2nd hand.

    There are lots of JCM800s that come up on the used melbourne market. Ebay, melbband gumtree etc etc, are all good places to look. And if you don't want marks on your amp, there's always the jcm800 reissue.

    I think restore it to the super bass specs originally not the 69 plexi, the super bass amps are crazy good cranked!!! what ever you prefer though!

    Crank the amp : ) it will sound better than the pedals for the overdriven sounds. lots of people use tubescreamers and ds1s to boost as well like you suggested.

    How noisy is your amp ??

    Wow that amp sounds amazing too, I love that tone. At the moment, my JCM800 is pretty loud :( hisses a lot... maybe i need to take it in for a service and replace the tubes

    dude don't pay what they ask for at that shop. bargain as much as possible... you can get em a lot cheaper... melband for example, private buys...
