    Nad - Holy Grail For Me- 1982 Jcm800 4010

I don't have a scale, but based on this thread, the 4010 with the G65 speaker appears to be 53lbs. Seems about right based on when I pick it up. https://www.marshallforum.com/threads/how-much-does-a-jcm-800-4010-weigh.20177/#:~:text=On%20this%20planet%2C%20a%20JCM,mass%20is%2053.5lbs...

    Nad - Holy Grail For Me- 1982 Jcm800 4010

Based off this thread, I searched for a 4010 when getting another Marshall. I found an 81 4010 that needed some cosmetic love. I retolxed it and cleaned it up. The amp part seems to be in great shape. It has hum, but not sure what is normal vs. needing new caps as a few have mentioned. I...

Protective corner in chrome/metal vs plastic?

Originally I was going to do it in teal, like the ToneKing amps offer, but it’s a bit too much. I definitely wanted something different- I considered purple and 80’s-rock zebra print, etc. It will likely sit on my desk in the studio. I will say that I was blown away last night with the...

WTB - Marshall JCM 800 4010 (1981) Knob with little arrow?

Hi All, I’m still looking for a Marshall knob with the arrow. Here’s the final results of the remodel. The blue is more like the color shown from the top. It’s different from the standard black, but I wanted something that was lighter/softer, given how aggressive the amp is. Seems...

Protective corner in chrome/metal vs plastic?

I bought some corners, but ended up not needing them. The tolex was not easy, nor is it perfect. But, overall turned out pretty good - especially for my first time. Here’s the final results of the remodel. The blue is more like the color shown from the top. It’s different from the standard...

No affiliation, but noticed it and thought someone here might be interested. Not sure if $1,999 is priced right. Serial Number: T23842. They said it was dated 1985. Condition: Possible dirty pots, Tolex is in good shape. everything works...

Protective corner in chrome/metal vs plastic?

The photo is deceiving. The tolex was really bad, most of the bottom was bare wood. The feet were broken, a few of the corners were gone, two top bolts holding the head on were stripped, handle needed replaced, faceplates were separating in spots and bent up. After 40 years of use, needed some...

    Hello from the Bay Area!

A lot of big cities have some of the things you've mentioned. For me, the Bay Area is one of the best places to live. The weather is ideal, access to everything, including great jobs, music, oceans/beaches, sports teams, theme parks, etc. I live in Marin (just across the Golden Gate Bridge from...

    Hello from the Bay Area!

Hi Everyone, I'm a long-time fan of Marshall amps, and I recently acquired a Marshall JCM800 4010. Years ago I had two Marshall full stacks (I know, total overkill), but I loved the Marshall tone and thick sound of dual stereo stacks. Yes, they both went to 11. :) I included a photo of me...

I’ve enjoyed tearing into this amp. All cleaned up, ready for tolex.

Protective corner in chrome/metal vs plastic?

Solid advice. I have some extra pieces that I'll practice on first. Thanks for the advice. I’m definitely going to do some testing. The front, top corner seems to be a bit tricky, as it’s a corner, inset and fold under wrap. Practice needed for sure.

Protective corner in chrome/metal vs plastic?

I was doing some tests last night to see how it would go. The most difficult corners are the top front left and right because it's a corner and an inset on the 4010 combo.

Protective corner in chrome/metal vs plastic?

Yes, my amp looked like that, but was really beat up. The actual amp part looks to be in good shape, but the tolex, handle, corners and feet were used. At this point, I've completed taken it apart and stripped tolex and removed the glue (PITA BTW). I'm waiting for tolex and glue to arrive.

Protective corner in chrome/metal vs plastic?

I agree. I just looked online at some photos, and it does seem very rugged, protective, but not classy. I'm definitely going for classy.

Protective corner in chrome/metal vs plastic?

Wow, really well done. Love the dark green and gold mix. Someone mentioned using Duratex coating instead of tolex. I already bought some tolex, but I do like the thought of something more durable and repairable.
