I like it. All I would change is the pickguard to a different color.
this is an idea, you could get a matching red wood flamed pickguard...

Matt uses this guy:

While you're at it, how about hacking-up the tolex on your Marshall...

That is a beautiful guitar. Leave it alone.

Wheres the fun in that..LOL

This is a great opportunity for him to express himself here. He gets to define what the instrument should / could be.

Maybe that photo laminate is easier to remove than a normal poly finish? I do think the best suggestion might be to sell the body and replace with one you like. I love the *feel* of aged/checked nitro, here is one of my MJT bodies. If you want aged/relic Fender style stuff I suggest check out the MJT ebay store; they have cool stuff on auction every week as well as custom orders.

That's what's so fun about super strats, you can sort of personalize them (I hate the overplayed term "mod" because to me, modding involves using tools lol, not simply swapping knobs, pickguards, tuners, etc) to change the look more to your liking.

That looks incred! If my faux finish looked anything like that I wouldn't have even started this thread haha! Man, seriously, feel free to toss up some more porn of that bad boy, I'd love to see the assembled guitar, sure it looks sexy.

That was my first MJT body and I was hooked; I have several now. I assembled it with a fat Warmoth raw rosewood neck which along with the checked body feels fantastic. Of course I call it "Rosie" :) Definitely one of the best guitars I have ever played. I don't care for heavy relicing so much but the checked/aged nitro feels so good. Here's a couple of pics:

Keep that "photo flame" intact (sell if you want to). That really is a unique part of Fender history.

Great subject for a thread! :dude:

Its an opportunity to make the guitar your own, whatever you choose. Have you thought about changing parts....

I dig the relic look. From looking at pics, its seems less is more.

Why not get the look the natural way?
Play the shit out of it. Could always wrap sandpaper around your arm to speed the process.
