Does anyone play one of these?

Given the high US$, I've been checking out what Europe has to offer in terms of Tele/Esquire styles. Haar look to be very nice (and sound great from the clips I've been able to find), but would be interested in firsthand accounts.

Happy to switch out pickups/electronics, but mostly curious about the bare build quality, resonance and playability.

Not a brand I am familiar with. Will need to do some research.
Is it something Thomann sells?

Not Thomann, but some other European retailers, like Session and Musik Produktiv.

However, I've been looking at their site directly. They exclude VAT once you enter a non-EU address, and the international shipping is really cheap (€30). This Tele comes to less than €1600 including shipping to the US, for example:

Edit: on doing some further research, I found a TDPRI member bought the preceding maple neck one. Check out the flame on this neck!

Nice!

Ebony fretboard?

Available non-relicced ?

Thought you lived in the EU from previous posts.

RW on that top one.

Seems to be optional: https://www.haarguitars.com/product-category/guitars/haar-guitars/

Looks like you can order custom too (but no indication of additional costs).

No, New Zealand (though have lived in US and EU previously). Not a lot of amps/guitars/parts here, so have to cast a wide net - and budget for shipping costs/delays - out of necessity.

I had Erik built a '63 strat for me with a special neck shape, fretboard radius and frets - but that was 18 years ago.
It was a very nice guitar, everyone who played it liked it a lot.
Easily on Fender Custom Shop level.
Sometimes I regret that I've sold it...

I'm not sure if they are as consistant in quality nowadays.
Some people who tried a few newer ones said to me that they are a bit hit or miss.

That's really helpful, thanks.

I found some threads on other forums where people said he can be a little inconsistent with custom orders.

Maybe worth waiting until I'm next in NL to try some in person, but that fiesta red/rosewood Tele is certainly tempting.
