It never fails. When prices get high, the gouging gets ridiculous. There was a gun I could have bought, and almost did, for about $750.00 in December 2019, from any number of vendors. Once COVID hit, the cheapest anywhere was $1800.00 and that was a "bargain." We're seeing the same with musical gear now.Last week on local classifieds , some pos was posting / fishing 2 used EL34's for 200 ! I was thinking some one meet up with that guy and ram those used tubes up his @$$ real hard ...... for free !
Is that from the Guitar Center website? If not, it could be. Anything on there with the word "vintage" starts at $5000.00 minimum. I see crap on there listed for thousands that I could have bought in a pawn shop for $350.00 twenty years ago.Who would pay 6K for this ? NOT me . I would think not even a museum would .
I'm glad I got what I got, no worries, unless strings and picks become the price of gold!
Me too!F$%K! I will keep saving for a better day. When they liquidate their assets when they go out of business! Glad I bought what I did when I did. Taking a year off from buying big gear.
20 years ago?! No kidding really?……….. I see crap on there listed for thousands that I could have bought in a pawn shop for $350.00 twenty years ago.
No, a couple of years ago, the "vintage" stuff listed at $5000.00 at GC would have been maybe $1200-$1500. Vintage gear has always crept up, but they take it to extremes.20 years ago?! No kidding really?
I thought you were gonna say a couple years ago!
I think they are about to take a huge down turn at those prices.
The main thing is inflation above all else. If anyone thinks it's just Marshall, it's because that's where their attention currently lies. I told about my Carvin a couple of times. I bought my first one in 2015 and it was a little over $1800.00. I recently spec'ed out the exact same guitar, down to every detail, and the price was $3300.00+. I'm seeing this in everything else these days. Why are some of you guys so mad at Marshall now?
I posted the EU prices here and they are perfectly fine, even cheaper than some of the competition.
I see that the amps in the US are so expensive now, that's really not nice and I also understand that this causes frustration.
But I don't think that's Marshall's fault (otherwise they would have raised the prices drastically in the EU too).
It is probably more due to the US distributors and of course, as already mentioned, to the massively increased transport costs.
Same here and the lesson here is take extremely good care of what you have!!!I'm glad I got what I got, no worries, unless strings and picks become the price of gold!
