Which Les Paul do you prefer?

tech info out of the way:

as you may or may not know, this beautiful '98 Honeyburst custom came all original with black speedknobs and Gibson 490R/498T pups w/ gold covers

I swapped out the speedknobs for gold reflectors and the pups for a uncovered Wolfetone Marshallhead/Dr. Vintage set

which looks cooler and will help me mass more groupies?

I like the gold covers. I have a Les Paul that exact color with SD's black like that and just recently decided to change it back.

I say it's a case-by-case basis.
Both of my lesters came stock with uncovered pickups, and I honestly like the way they look.
But, on an LP Custom (yours in particular), I think it looks better with the gold covers on the pickups.

And God damn it shooto, before you started posting about that guitar a few months back, I had never seen an LP Custom in honeyburst. I STILL can't get over how sweet that guitar looks... so jealous!

personally I would go silver aged pups/bridge & gold or amber tophats w/ a cream switch ring.

Looks good either way, but I'd change out all the plastic to cream, especially with the black pickups. Gold top hat knobs too. This looks sexy...

On that guitar the Gold covers look best. I don't like the top-hats at all - I'd switch them back to speed knobs.

I don't like black uncovered pups on a Lester....zebra or cream yes otherwise the covers stay on.

If he wants plastic bobbins, he can just go out and get himself a Les Paul Traditional. But he's not leaving that Custom all naked in the pickups like that.
