    MG are supposed to get you started, like a gateway drug for Marshalls! Tubes are the real deal. I recommend MGs to beginners, always.

    Op: no you didn't! Check your preamp tubes and match impedances correctly. Use the proper cable for each application (speaker vs instrument). Try again.

    We'll, my experience is with an 2203KK(same NG as the JS) and it works perfect. Maybe if you have noisy pedals, non isolated power supplies and cheap patch cables you'd benefit with a NG last in the chain, just before the amp input.     I do! I have a Callaham and Tremsetter on my #1 Works for me. But it's still critical to string up and lubricate properly, if you don't, nothing will help you stay in tune.
