So we picked up this cab over the weekend and it has a 4ohm G12M-70, the other speaker was an eminence, don’t really care about that one.
The date code puts it October 1987, was Celestion still making these in 1987?
I thought they were not very well liked.
Just wanting to date the cab which...
Kits to me are the way to go, bigger transformers, more robust parts and the ease of modding.
Nik has a lot to choose from, surely there are models there for your tastes.
Cheers
Niks kits are very good and they sound awesome as well, that’s about all we build, easily available and his shipping for the kits is stupid fast.
There aren’t any instructions other than the layout. The layout is good and I haven’t had any issues with them. They are correct and complete, some...
Man that amp looks great, clean and unmolested, thanks for posting the pics @Rotorcraft230
You’re welcome, unmodded and probably not gigged. It’s VERY nice, all the voltage were right in line, the power tube bias was kinda hot, see the post it in one of the pics, gonna cool it down a bit...
I’m with you on the blue board highlighting the yellow caps and also the white cans are kinda ugly.
I did something new with this build, the heater wire on pin 9 I made it come up from the socket vs following the chassis to the corner. It’s a hybrid of Marshall and fender.
Looking very nice, straight leads and nice wire dress. I love the attention to detail.
The one thing I didn’t like was the blue turret board, yuck, I made my own.
Your build looks great.
Here it is, I wanted to get him to do the thread but he wasn’t too interested in that.
Sounds very much like his Ceriatone Plexi 51.
The purpose of this amp was to build and mod, he has been wanting to mod the amps but I won’t let him mod the ones I built so I bought this one for him.
He has...
The meter on the top is for output volts. I have 2 ways I can measure current. My old school Weston 433, or my Fluke. Believe it or not the Weston is just as accurate as the Fluke. And the meter on the Variac is a factory option. They rarely come up on eBay, I have 2.
So my son has been taking college courses and got his associates degree and for his accomplishments he wanted a amp kit to build.
Here it is a Ceriatone Plexi 50. This is his second amp, the first was a Ceriatone Overtone Special. He did a great job and has been gigging it along with the All...
Hi Jon, thanks for responding.
I lifted one leg on c46 and it measured its value, I didn’t check c35, but I do have a “Blue ESR tester “ and it measured good, I can remove it and check it though.
Hiw do you lift one leg on a IC that has 8 legs?
Hello everyone and happy new year.
I have a 9001 tube preamp and need some help troubleshooting it. It's missing the -15vdc for the op-amps.
here is what I have done.
replaced 79L15 (RG1) still no -15vdc out
lifted the output leg and soldered the ground and input back in and the -15vdc was...
