    Stomp box for Marshally tones

Ive got a marshall JD-1 jackhammer that works very nicely. I got it for fifty bucks on eBay. Its got a wide range of tones, and the option to be overdrive, or distortion. I dont use it very frequently, but it sounds the best through a clean tube amp. Solid state it sounds a tad-bit too digital...

Axe FX, with or without "real" amps...

Man, I got to do some setup work for Neil Zaza when he came to town, even got to meet him (Very nice guy, by the way), and he had something like this... If it wasn't AxeFx it was something very similar. The way he runs it, is no amps at all, just this rack unit, and a MIDI board to scroll...

    Downgrade

Well, if the general consensus is to keep it, then I shall. Like I said, I love the sounds I can get out of it, I just need the money. I don't think either combo is worth quite enough to cover my needs, but I am taking some double shifts and could possibly sell a couple other small things.

    Downgrade

Twin: Gosh, you had me worried considering I paid I think $850 for it. Ken: Ive not heard good things about JCM 900s. Is the MKIII an exception to that?

Is it really worth that little? Maybe ill just keep it and try to find something else to sell.

    Downgrade

Alrighty folks, I am in need of a couple hundred bucks, so I figured the quickest way to make it would be to sell my JCM 800 head. I don't quite need the entire amount though, so I figured to get something to replace it, but of lesser cost. To begin, what do y'all think I should price it at...

After Marshall, what's your favorite amp brand?

I really have not owned enough amps to give a very good answer, but I think that between what I have played, and currently own, Peavey and Fender are tied for me besides marshall. The peavey and fender that I own are actually not my favorite amps from either brand. For Peaveys, I have enjoyed...

    JCM 800 Hum

The tubes are brand spankin new (about a month old). 2 Mullard EL34s in the power, and 4 Sovtek 12AX7WBs in the preamp section. The problem was there even before the tubes were replaced. Like I said, it has been a gradual development ever since I got the amp. Yes, the hum in the clip is...

    JCM 800 Hum

Yea, it plays fine. The hum increases and decreases in intensity consistent with how high the master volume is set. It has gotten progressively worse since I bought it. It hadn't been used much before I bought it.

    JCM 800 Hum

Ok all, I think I have a problem. When my JCM 800 (2204) is on, its produces this loud hum. It feels louder than the natural hum of a tube amp should be. What can I try to try fixing such a problem? This is a clip of the sound. The MV is at 12 o'clock. This recording sounds a bit buzzier than...

On top of a good product, I thought that dealing with them was very easy. They were very kind and helpful when I talked to them.

    Egnater Tweaker vs Orange OR15H

I tried the Egnater before, it had a lot of capabilities and tonal variations, but I wasn't impressed. I never tried the orange though, so I can't necessarily vouch for it.

    Cap job?

So, If I were to do a complete cap job on the amp, what types would I need? How many of each? etc... What do I need to look for, basically. My father is experienced in electronics and would be able to assist me in this endeavor.

Can I just throw a CD player in front of it with the volume down for a few hours to kinda break them in?
