The hiss is the nature of the beast. If it bothers you too much use a noise suppressor pedal. I use a REVV G8 with my SV with great results. The Boss NS-2 also works well.- trovador

NAD - Marshall SV20H and 2x12 cab
Congrats and welcome to the club from another SV20H owner. Has been my main amp since I got it 3 1/2 years ago. I also play it with a 2x12 cab (1966A).- trovador

Yup, volume know is your friend. Having a quality volume pot with an even sweep makes this amp very versatile. In some cases, depending on the music that you play, you don't even need a booster. And yes, this amp is also sensitive to picking and strumming dynamics.- trovador
