Ah, there is a difference in my 2555 to another 2555 built in the same year... believe it's got a lot to do with the spec of the diodes (big variances).
All relative though, they're all in the Jubilee tone ball park (including the new re-issues) IMO.
Follow same schematic, but use different Transformers (which is a big thing IMO) but you do get some nice BIAS input jacks.
I have the old Drake and Dagnal Transformers, and have to Bias the amp the old fashioned way.

Because the D.I in a 2555 is poop, it sounds like a wasp farting in a can.
I don't have the SL, but a 1987 2555 Jubilee - i tried the D.I because it was there, and quickly reverted back to a mic in from a V30.
You do get Interfaces that sit in between Head and Cabinet (Hughes & Kettner Red...
I have a 1987 2555 Silver Jubilee, and it's now my only amp. Take it to rehearsals, gigs and practice at home. I have other amps (and Marshalls) but I keep coming back to it - best Lead Guitar sound from any amp, really warm & open.
Couple of things I've found with it.
Master Volume has to be...
Basically - does a DEC2723G Transformer have a 16 ohm wire?, and does anyone have details of the colours?.
I can then connect this to my Impedance selector and make the amp more usable/versatile when gigging.
Regards, Alan
Thanks for the responses.
I don't see a spare wire so it's probably as you say (stubbed off), i haven't removed the OT though (need to remove board etc to do it) - i was hoping someone had done similar before i strip an amp to find nothing.
Looks like i'll need to stick to the 4 ohm & 8 ohm...
Does anyone have a Schematic for a DEC-2723G OT Transformer.
Used on my 2555 Jubilee, i only have 4 & 8ohm on the selector but pretty sure that transformer will have a 16ohm (although not connected for import reasons).
Hoping to connect the 16ohm wire to a spare terminal on the Impedance...
Yep, mine is on 10 all of the time - When i first played that amp I was wondering what all the fuss was about ... then I turned up the Master Volume. It's one of those amps that you have to get it dialed in correctly.
The only trouble with my master being at 10, means that the Clean/Crunch...
I use my 2555 Jubilee every weekend (real one), and agree with previous posts that it's really a one channel amp.
Great tip on the effects loop switcher, but for me - Lead Channel on all the time, use Tube Screamer for that mid boost Lead Sound and Turn Volume Down for Clean. Everything i'll...
I bought an original 2555 Jubilee a few years back, which is now my main amp. Amps great, love it but curiosity has got the better of me and have a few queries.
It's one of the models with the Toggle Switch, no input selector and can only switch between 4 & 8 ohms.
What's confusing me is that...
@dreyn77
You're saying the volume of a a 100w amp doesn't alter tone? if so, that's complete nonsense. It is well know that the problem with 100w Marshalls/any amp need to be at a certain level to get the full tone. Which makes them pretty much redundant when playing small clubs/pubs.
That's...
@Geeze - The entire reason for considering another cab was on comparing my cab with a friends, believe the 1960 Vintage has some cheap knock off speakers - not the same as the 1960AV. Not 100% sure, all i know is i'm not happy with the sound of my cab.
also the Dimensions of a cab dramatically...
@ampmadscientist
Agree that 4x12's are a thing of the past and you do get some really nice/efficient 1 x 12" but... IMO you can't beat a good amp through a 4x12 - is there any need and is it too loud - in most cases yes.
I have a Fender Tweed (10" combo) and a 1 x 12" with a two rock - they...
My 1960 'Vintage' just isn't cutting it so I've decided to move to a Custom Cabinet. Looking for some input/advice on specifications that people have tried and worked and what hasn't.
Bit about me
I play classic to heavy rock, usually through an original 2555 Silver Jubilee (lead channel on all...
Pretty sure it doesn't....
Seriously, turn Master Volume to 10 and Lead Master as high as you can get away with. Changed the amp for me.
EDIT: If you don't trust me, check Joe Bonamassa's settings - he's quite handy.

Very Nice Set-up. how's your hearing? :)
Yeah, i need to try the wet/dry thing. My DSL is pretty much redundant since i bought the Jubilee. I'd probably just split my 4 x 12 into stereo though. Carrying a single 4 x 12 to gigs is bad enough ! :)
Question to everyone that replied - What channel are you using?.
I treat the Jubilee like a single channel amp, always on Lead Channel with Master Volume at 10 & Lead Master at 3 to 5. IMO - the only way to get the true Jubilee tone.
Thanks for the replies everyone, confirms my thoughts that something isn't right. I've also heard others say that the Jubilee handles effects extremely well.
@Kutt - Marshall 1960 Vintage (4 x 12) which I can switch between the Jubilee and a 50W DSL. Wah/Effects work fine with DSL but not with...
My 2555 Jubilee (original) struggles with effects, and wondering if other users have the same issue or maybe mine has a fault.
It can't handle any modulated effects in the front of the amp, they sound terrible and I mean terrible. I know modulated effects are best in the FX loop but even my Wah...
