I had to replace my 15 year old power amp, which I was using in a wet/dry/wet rig to send my rack effects into stereo. The quickest and most economical option was a Marshall Valvestate 8004.
When I hooked it up at first, the previous owner had it set to Linear mode. It's not bad with my effects...
I ditched my THD HotPlate when I upgraded from the DSL40C to the DSL40CR last year. The CR sounds great at all volumes, I think, so the HotPlate was unnecessary.
I have owned both models. I traded the C for the CR last summer and I have no regrets. All around, just a better sounding amp to my ears. Plays nice at all volume levels.
I have a t.c. electronic G-Major that I use from the effects send in a w/d/w config for all my reverbs, chorus and such, and just run wah, phaser and drives into the front. However, when I first got the DSL40CR last summer, I hooked up my smaller pedalboard to it and ran EHX Canyon and Oceans 11...
Now that I have the PEDL, I kind of like this feature. Clean, Crunch, and OD1 are pretty consistent in their master volumes, at least the way I have them adjusted, but when I kick on OD2 there is a volume drop, and it helps to have the second master volume to compensate. If I need a boost on the...
Congrats! I used to have one and wish I had kept it. Same model as the OP's but with a black cloth front. Unfortunately I had a bout of unemployment in late 2006 and needed quick cash. It was a superb clean amp.
I still have my Blue Angel t shirt though! :D
Congrats, and kudos for your patience. After getting my 40CR last summer, I tried to use a MIDI process to get all the switching done, but it seems the Marshall's innards just aren't sophisticated enough. I finally gave in and held out for the PEDL 91016, and mine is scheduled to arrive today...
It seems that Pitbull and Thomann scored exclusive distribution deals with Marshall, on at least the initial run of the switches. Other dealers have waiting lists, so there must be some expiration to those deals coming.
Sounds really good! What were your knob settings?
Just this past weekend, I had heard this song on the radio and thought I should get it going on my DSL40CR. I probably haven't played it since 1990.
I had a C for five years and traded it for the CR last month. The reverb on the CR is very understated, to the point where I use it full up and it's just enough for a touch of 'verb. If you want dripping surf sound, here it ain't. I use an old G-Major for my loop type effects, and have that...
I've never owned or used a Boss pedal, but I imagine the GE7 is a good fit. I use an old Ibanez 10 Series EQ pedal in my DSL40CR's loop. The Ibby has the same frequencies as the Boss. It works perfectly.
I've been trying to use a MIDI Solutions Event Processor, but not having any success. Apparently the MIDI in the DSL40CR can't handle anything other than a straight 1, 2, 3, or 4 program change signal. I wish Marshall would distribute a downloadable firmware upgrade that fixes this issue.
Unfortunately, no. I have been successful in getting the Event Processor programmed, but I'm afraid the Marshall just isn't responding to it. I'm still working on it though.
I'm not having any luck with MIDI. I can plug a MIDI controller into the DSL40CR's MIDI jack, and the straight 1-4 program changes will change the amp channels perfectly, and of course repeat every four digits. But I'm trying to go further. I want to use a MIDI Solutions Event Processor to map...
