I don't slow down when people are behind me and often move over if another lane is available. If you want to drive faster than I'm driving, I say own it. As long as your speed is not excessive, or your driving aggressive I've got better things to do. There are some in law enforcement who are...
If you are looking for a way to secure the resistor you could use an insulated standoff that is also one of the fasteners for the tube socket. I have used this in Fender circuits but it could just as easily be used in your application. This is not my amp.
JJ's 6V6s has a little different and much more rugged plate structure than others. Many recent amps produced with 6V6's use them for their resiliency. For example, some of the offerings from Dr. Z specify only JJ's and seem to kill others in short order. There are many considerations other than...
I'm not real up on your HG Plexi so don't know what kind of voltages are present. I would guess that if original with EL84's it is cathode biased and voltages are moderate. JJ's are not my favorite 6V6 but they are more tolerant of higher voltages than most any other 6v6. The reason for this is...
Very sad news. Saw Jack and the boys more times than I can count in their heyday. His passing, and many others lately, make me feel old. I'm grateful to still be topside!
Along with all things already mentioned, it couldn't hurt to take a look at the grid resistor (5.6k P5) on V4. It looks to be laying right over the filament wiring. Check that the positioning and connection on both V4/V5 are solid.
I have a pair of really nice 417's in 16 ohm. They do have a specific sound and I don't currently have them in anything. I may have to rotate them into a 2x12.
Need more detail. What shape does he lean towards, including neck profile and radius? You said he's not into heavy metal and goth. What genre does he lean towards? In the used market, if you're a shopper, you can get a lot of guitar for 1k. You mentioned Ibanez. You should be able to get...

There are also aftermarket aluminum and steel replacements in natural and black finishes such as those below. More expensive but much more hearty...
Sure, biasing it at 25w shouldn't really hurt anything if you like the way that it sounds biased there. I would think at around 430v you would be looking for about 35-40ma. Set your pot for most negative and adjust from there. I can't really see color code on those resistors "tacked" in there on...
