    MA100C yay or nay?

Semi-necro? I picked up a used MA100c a month or two ago simply because it was, 1)Marshall, 2)all tube, 3)$250 (asking price $400) Is had been in the local buy-sell for over a month with very few views. I thought even at $400 ask it wasn't bad for 100 watts of Marshall. When I got there it...

    What's wrong with this seller?

There's a decent looking 800 combo on the market for a reasonable price. . It's the '89 50w dual channel 4212. It's been on the market for a loooooong time, starting out at $1000 and now it's three months later and $650 OBO. I called the vendor on the phone and he seemed OK, not spaced out or...

    I just need to vent.

Exactly what happened. If fact, I could use your words as my original post and it would make perfect sense. I appreciate the words of wisdom from you folks. My daughter is reading along and learning as she goes. She's a bright kid, and thinks I could have done things differently, and maybe had...

    I just need to vent.

I have a daughter who plays, she's 15 and is very good. My other daughter is going on 5 and loves to copy her big sister. I have a couple of boys who play but they're finishing university so don't they play much. I found the perfect Christmas gift here for my 15 year old. We sat and talked...

    Marshall 1960 4x12s...why does my..

My two cabs from the 80's both sound much better than my cab from 1999. Even non band members notice it. I guess Marshall found a way to cut corners on cabs that we can't see but it's costing us soundwise. Although, at $1100/cab where I live there's no savings being passed on to the consumer.

If I had a Time Machine...

I'd buy Apple when it was 10 cents a share. A million shares of it. Then I'd dump it at $750/share. Then I could afford to pay any price asked for vintage gear without so much as blinking.

    Moving A Stack Amp

Don't forget, unless things have changed drastically in the moving industry, damages are paid out so many cents on the pound. So a 50 lb. head might net you a tidy $25 if they totally trashed it. You have to buy extra insurance from the mover, which of course means that your claim will be...

Irrational desire for a low demand cab

Well, no luck here founding a slant AVT412 for a reasonable price. I'm going to fill my straight AVT with swamp thangs. It appears I have a new cabinet love, the 1936. I ended up with two and I like the possibilities. V30 & Govnor in each. Killer combination.

    How to use a 2205

I imagine this would apply to the 2210 as well? I bought that one on a lark and had buyer's remorse ever since. Perhaps this hint will give me some decent sound out of it and alleviate some of my regret.

    des this Peavey Windsor...

Depends. What model Marshall? I can get several Marshall "like" sounds from my Windsor and they range from meh to game on. The sound enjoyment I get out of it is far superior to the small amount of money it took to buy it. Derail. For such a tiny OT I'm surprised it produces any decent sound...

    Testing old style impedance selector

I guess these things must be OK because I noticed on the JimiHendrix 600 unit run the same type of selector is used. But, I'm not going to ignore what our resident mad scientist said though. There's a lot of good ideas that he presented. Thanks for the help from all sides.

    Ohms selector isn't right

Collector'S Jimi Hendrix Marshall SUPERJH100 AMP Full Stack ALL Accessories | eBay Check out the ohm selector. Three settings that I can make out 8 ohms, 16 ohms and 100 volts. What? 100 volts? WTF is a mains voltage selection doing on the output side? My 1974 SL50 has 8 ohms, 16 ohms and 4...

    Testing old style impedance selector

The pins are quite dirty. It can't hurt to clean then up. As for making proper contact I guess I'm taking the chassis out to have a good look.

    Testing old style impedance selector

I got an older super lead the other day. It has the "pull out-rotate-push in" selector. It seems loose and sloppy. The PO told me the OT had to be replaced 3-4 years ago. I think two are related? I read this thread figure out if it is hardwired or not...

    Marshall Mosfet Lead 100

I need some opinions. I have two nice, clean older 1936 cabs and the legendary 3210 head. 1. Do you think a 1936 with swamp thangs would sound any good? 2. What about a swamp thang and a govner in a 1936? 3. How about two govners in a 1936? I hope someone here has experience with my speaker...

    1936 Cab History and Review...

I found this thread at a good time. I got a 1936 in trade last week with a 3210 head. It's a newer 1936 with plastic handles. Tonight I got another 1936 that's older. It's labelled JCM800, has the strap handle on top and is thinner than my first 1936. I've been so busy there's been no time to...

    Used speaker prices

I did one of those regret forever things. I dicked around too much asking questions and let a 1960b with 4 greenbacks from the 70's slip away. For $400. They were 55hz cones and I got hung up on that. What a moron. OP, BUY THEM! NOW!

so i noticed that celestions made in china are not that easy to tell

It's rare and a company doing that deserves business. I do find it funny that COO for speakers doesn't matter but I still feel there's prejudice about COO when it's the amp in question.
