Slightly more powerful DSL/TSL series, a 30 or 40 watt head would be perfect, just for the sake of having a little bit more clean headroom. And plywood slanted and straight 2x12s as per the 2061Xs to be able to create stacks with small box heads. That'd be a perfect stage setup. 2 heads and 4...
OK. That first pic, the all natural maple & strips one... Stunning.
The other ones look amazing, don't get me wrong, but that one does it for me SO MUCH !
Awesome jobs !
Truth be told, I've been eyeing an Origin 50H for quite some time now, and I might take the plunge and get Marshall to custom cover a 4x12 for me and do the head myself...
I'll still do the DSL head soon.
Again great job and can't wait for that cab... But you deserve some time off for sure...
great job so far ! I made a custom 2x12 a few years ago in blue snakeskin... Your re-tolexing your Origin 20 makes me consider doing the same to my DSL15H... which needs a new headshell anyway... Time to plan the project.
I'm going to build a pair for myself, I don't want to spend 800$ on a 2x12 I can build for 350, including speakers. For 500$, I wouldn't bother, but I can build 2 for less than the price of one of those... and pick the colors scheme.
This amp is pretty much dead-on what I was looking for, I would have liked a dual EQ for the Dual model ( which is the one I've got my eyes on ), but any external EQ will do the trick nicely if it's even necessary, and possibly a clean boost for leads, but that is also a simple enough external...
Stock ( except for the tubes ) 410H here too... And a TSL100 too. Both great amps. Will probably add a DSL15H just because it looks like a fun little recording amp to have.
I used to own a BH1H Blackheart ( slightly under 1 watt, full tube ) and it was less than 180$ made in korea. I'm sure Marshall can manage less than 300$ made in the UK. But they probably won't... :)
there are really cool 1 watt amps out there, such as the blackheart BH1H. It's an awesome solution to your problem and I succesfully recording great guitar tones with this little puppy. Sure it's as simple as it gets, but you should record flat and as direct as possible anyways and compress and...
with a loud amp, the mic is not nearly as important as the mic placement. You can get used 57s for 30 or 40$ and that will be more than enough to get the job done, but if you use a crappy preamp and converter, then Alvagoldbook is absolutely right, it will suck. The good news is a good preamp...
that's just too cool looking. If they sound any good, they're going to sell like hot cakes. And I'm going to buy them all... well I'm truly interested in the 800, JMP and JVM mostly...
