    Multitrack Cassette Style Vst?

Probably the simplest you can get is Riffworks which is great for knocking up a quick idea. The standard version allows exporting recordings to CD etc. Built in drums, compatible with Pod Farm Revalver and Amplitube plus it's own rudimentary effects, it's not bad at all and really simple to use.

Look What Rock Guitar I Found.

And that's what happens if you take LSD and are let loose on a band saw !

    Most Underrated Guitarist

VITO VITO VITO - I have never been so inspired by such a combination of technique, sound and style since I first spun the album Are You Experienced when aged 11 - I'll never forget that moment. I had to wait another decade and a half for Vito to do the same !

Top 3 Worst Guitarists Of All Time

I second Steve Jones as a potential candidate for one of the "Worst Three" but he never really took himself any more seriously than we did as a musician so that partially excuses him. At least the line in the Sex Pistols song "The Great Rock And Roll Swindle" is brutally honest though - "The...

    Incoming: Gibson Melody Maker Project

DiMarzio Virtual Vintage Solo pickups would fit right in those routes and they sound fairly similar to P90s - they are a lot fatter sounding than standard Strat PU and are totally noiseless. I would be inclined to fit one of those in the bridge position and a Vitrual Vintage Heavy Blues II in...

No More Rosewood Fretboards From Fender !!!

In the same way Strats with maple boards have slightly more cut or bite to their tone than their rosewood board siblings due to the fact that maple attenuates lows more than rosewood does. Maple does not, contrary to popular belief, transmit highs better, it is simply less adept at transmitting...

No More Rosewood Fretboards From Fender !!!

Baked Maple I believe was the term - got one. Makes for a slightly brighter more attacking tone than rosewood. Feels very dry under the finger. Looks cheap in comparison I feel to rosewood. See pic of LP Studio 2012. Gibson used it as a stop-gap when the Feds confiscated their wood shed contents !

    Show Your Shredders

One I sold a year or two back when times were hard. A self assembly bitsa-caster, Warmoth body 3lb 10oz alder, Mighty Mite bird's eye neck 9.5" radius board, Duncan JB. An absolute dream to play.

This one arrived at my door in kit form from Peavey UK when they shut up shop a few years back - not really a true shredder but pretty close. Literally a box of bits for £70 ! Easy self assembly !

Ever Have A Kitteh Claw Your Speaker Grill ?

I wish you all the best with your new cat - a beautiful animal. It reminds me very much of my Cat "Buster" who was identically colored to yours and sadly died aged 17yrs 50wks on Mar 19th 2016. He literally died lying flat on his back on my lap of a massive heart attack whilst having his belly...

Ever Have A Kitteh Claw Your Speaker Grill ?

Sprays can be purchased that deter cats from going anywhere near where they are applied. They are non toxic and not damaging to soft furnishings (inc grille cloth etc) and smell a little like dry cleaning fluid - not unpleasant to us humans but cats don't like it at all. The stuff works, I've...

Once A Guitar Is Setup, Is There Any Reason To Change It?

In 35 years of setting up guitars I have found Fender bridge saddle grub screws to be the biggest PITA of all to get to stay put, Strats and Teles alike. Not only does string tension affect them but I'm convinced temperature / expansion contraction causes them to shift at a micro level as does...

Best Marshall Sound Laid To Tape?

My personal favorite has always been the album "Black Rose" by Thin Lizzy. The title track is an excellent example of a harmonised twin Les Paul Marshallfest and another number called "Get Outa Here" has in my opinion one of the most outrageously good guitar solo tones I have ever heard wail...

    Speaker. Reak In Time

I personally hear speakers start to produce more depth and sound less constricted / restrained after about 50 hrs continuous (cumulative not constant) use. Some speakers I have owned did stink but I never had one I would say reaked !

    Pick Your Axe

I have owned 2 Dinky model Jacksons, both made in Japan. One had an HSH configuration and the other (currently owned) has a HSS layout. The other Jackson I owned was a SL4H Japanese thru neck Soloist model. I had to sell most of my guitars back in 2005 when my wife had to give up work through...

Strat Neck Swap - Rosewood And Maple

We obviously share very similar tastes in necks. My bird's eye maple neck had blue abelone dot inlays too ! I forgot that this was one of the reasons it complimented the blue body so well - this is where my aesthetic bias comes from. I even fitted blue abelone topped chromed dome knobs to...

Strat Neck Swap - Rosewood And Maple

My own personal preference would be to leave them as they are - Maple neck + Swamp Ash body and Rosewood neck + Mahogany / Maple body. From my own experience I feel that this arrangement allows the woods of necks and bodies to best compliment each other tonally and gives two very different...
