    unpopular opinions (musical or otherwise)

My 2 cents......I would never buy an acoustic guitar with a cutaway. Ugly as hell.

    Real Amps vs. Modelling

Having worked in IT all my life when it comes to amps I just love the simplicity. So no busman's holiday for me. I use a SLO 100, Tone King Imperial, Dr Z Therapy and Z-Wreck Junior and an AC15HW1. No menus to navigate through. All the adjustments are there in front of you. Just a single level...

So I finally got a Plexi tattoo'd on my arm....let me know what you think!

I had Koch amps tatted on my arm but they spelled it wrongly :-(

    SOLDANO SLO 100 AND CERIATONE

I'm having a clearout as I have too much stuff. I have a Jet City Custom 22 and a JCA20HV - both with JJ valves installed by Jet City. Both brand new and unused with the all the original packaging etc. They are for sale. Only snag for most is that I live in the centre of France (Chateauroux...

    Getting Older Sucks (at times)!

Getting older sensibly is to always look at the amp's weight before delving further. Mind you I am 65 and am waiting for the delivery of a SLO - I'm just not sensible.

Did the decimal point slip here, and some?

For that I'd buy a SLO 100, Ducati Panigale, a small new car plus have an holiday

    ABB Southern Rock Sound Project

I live in France and I did go on a search for those JBL's but they were of course either a crazy price or they needed renovation. I hadn't heard about the Texas Heat before but it certainly has some good reviews. Thanks for the info jbow. I will bear that those mind a future cabinet build.

    ABB Southern Rock Sound Project

Thanks! Yep.....I think I have most of the tones covered with those plus a LP Dickey Goldtop and a strat. Definitely a good palate of tones to be had there.

    ABB Southern Rock Sound Project

Well it took took me some time and analysis and testing (and also some folding stuff) but I have ended ordering a SLO 100, SV20H and a Soldano 2x12 slant vintage 30s. Will arrive in May 2022. I'll let you all know how it goes.

    ABB Southern Rock Sound Project

I've got to start somewhere so as it is not logistically possible to try these out due to distance, I'm going Sv20H/SV212 plus a Alnico Gold in a 1x12 open back cab. If the SV stuff doesn't work I can return them free of charge within 30 days. I'll certainly keep the Gold though as I can use...

    ABB Southern Rock Sound Project

I'm probably more confused now for choice than when I started but thanks for all your input.....Origin, Sv20, 1987x, 100wSL. Any love for the Jubilee? I was hot on the SV20 yesterday but now I'm heading towards 50 or 100w with an attenuator. I've heard some demos at low volume and the big watts...

    ABB Southern Rock Sound Project

The SV212 sounds like the way to go. I may indulge myself though and get an Alnico gold as well and put it in a 1x12 cab so giving me even more tones.

    ABB Southern Rock Sound Project

I'll be playing mostly at home but with some small gigs a few times a year. Feeling like the SV20 is getting to the top of my list.

    ABB Southern Rock Sound Project

I like the "too much detective work" approach. My head spins when reading some forums and I disappear down the rabbit hole. Now this Alnico Gold you mention....is that a 1x12 setup?

    ABB Southern Rock Sound Project

There's a lot on here to get me thinking. Origin vs SV20 vs 1987x + attenuator. Then there's the celestion greenbacks and the celestion alnico gold (I like the idea of that...thanks Bill Maloy.) I have 2 Dickey Betts signature LPs so Bills setup with the R7 will be very similar and as he's a...

    ABB Southern Rock Sound Project

Thanks for the welcome everybody. That sounds very interesting. Youtube vid says it's based on the 1959SLP. That maybe the key. I didn't particularly want 100w and this could be the answer. Thanks for the info tce

    ABB Southern Rock Sound Project

Hello All Newbie on the forum and to the world of Marshall. I live in France so my components choice is limited to what you would have in the States or the UK. I'm thinking of getting either a Marshall 1987x or 1959HW to get me in the ABB ballpark (or maybe even the SV20). Are there any others I...
